 JUST FOR TODAY
Back to Full Blog

I've missed my friends , my new friends the sober friends because I've been sick for the last 3 days , but today I'm going to make a meeting even if it kills me .
A lady came to the meeting the other night she says she has 12 years of sobrity , and when she was sharing with a new comer she said that she went threw the steps with out a sponsor and so on and so on , I could't believe what I was hearing . I didn't say nothing I was just waiting for her to say there was no GOD , OR MEETINGS WERE NOT IMPORTAN ........................

THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMMENTS .

We all see God through different eyes... All our experiences are different...I could not have made it her way, but she may not have made it mine....Be grateful you have a sponser and a support system in your group...She must be doing something right if she is sober..."The road is broad enough for all of us..." everyone is different. Therefore everyones program is different. MOST people need meetings, sponsers, and most of all God. The 12-steps cannot work without God. But God CAN work without the 12-steps. Hey, I just read the book by James Frey, A Million Little Pieces. EXCELLENT! Check it out if you can. Very enlightening, and uplifting! Always prayin' for ya friend! God, grant me the serenity to accept the PEOPLE I cannot change. The courage to change the ONE I can. And the wisdom to know that it's ME. Amen... PJ

I am two years sober now- just realized I passed my anniversary on Dec. 8 without even thinking about it!!! huh! I did it without AA or a sponsor but I could NOT have done it without God and that's a fact. I just read the same book Godseeker- pretty amazing stuff wasn't it?

What works for you may be different than what worked for her. What's important is that you are working on it...always working on it.
