Just like in AA if you have a medical problem like depression don't be afraid to ask your Dr's to help you treat it....Over the years I have noticed that depression seems to be a tendency of our kinda people......I hope you are working on a solution with a Dr, as well as AA.....we have a tendency to deny an issue an let it get bad before we finally accept it and get help....Sobriety through the steps is the beginning ...

I've been off meds for depression for over 3 yrs now in recovery. Just keep doin the deal and stay in touch with your sponsor. Don't be afreaid to get outside help if you really need it. I'll pray for you.

Bill W was depressed. Look under the topic graditude in As Bill Sees it.

I have heard a story in the AA archives that at 3 years sober Bill W took to his bed and was so depressed that he refused to get up for a week....Silkworth and most of the religious guys and shrinks that contributed to AA's philosphy tried to talk him out of the bed and get him into action again.....Our kinda people are subject to depression...there is a solution...it may be a little bit different for everyone.

Seems alcoholism/recovery/depression all go hand in hand. You do need to talk to your Doctor about your depression. Not knowing if your back injury allows you to, but if you can walk. Walking is a great combat for depression. Sit in the sunshine(if it isnt raining like it has been here for days). A 'sun' lamp is an alternative and a lot of insurance companies have been covering them. Are you taking a good multi-vit? Walmart has a great one, and not very expensive. I know hard hard it is to deal with/over come depression. As hard as you work at not taking that drink you can work at over coming depression as well. And You Will. Thank you for sharing. Theresa
